Geared Up Culcha (GUC) is excited to feature exclusive artwork from First Nations artist Bianca Gardiner-Dodd on its new range of GUC Industrial™ silicone sealants.

For Bianca, a proud Kamilaroi woman who lives on Bundjalung Country in the Tweed Coast region of New South Wales, this collaboration with GUC is the culmination of a commercial partnership dating back to 2020, with a number of her distinctive artwork pieces having featured exclusively on GUC products in the last five years. Bianca regards her artwork as a means to articulate her own creative journey, having begun her performative career as a dancer and choreographer, before shifting into visual arts.

For the team at GUC, it was a unique opportunity to showcase the artwork of a highly regarded First Nations artist on a new product line, with Geared Up Culcha being the first recognised Indigenous business to launch its own directly-sourced range in the silicone sealants category.

Jarrad Dawson, General Manager of GUC and a Wiradjuri man, says: “It’s important that First Nations artists are properly remunerated for commercial applications of their work, and that the licensing model also allows them to share in the upside of a project’s success. Bianca’s licensed designs and their usage on our products reflect our continuing journey as a First Nations business, along with adding another layer of authenticity to our Indigenous-sourced product range.”

Reflecting on her own journey and the project with GUC, Bianca says: “I moved to Bundjalung Country from Western Sydney when I was 10 years old. The land I live on has had a profound impact on me: I grew up in the Tweed, spent my formative years here, and raised a family who call this place home. My artwork portrays this natural environment: the rivers, creeks, estuaries, and beaches. The symbols found in my art reflect the delicate balance of coastal life, harmony, and unity. As an artist, having my work used in this new collaboration with Geared Up Culcha gives me an opportunity to grow my own business through a revenue stream that may not have otherwise been available.”

Geared Up Culcha will also donate three percent of all sales from its GUC Industrial range of products to the Cowboys Community Foundation. For more information on the GUC Industrial silicone sealants range, please visit here, or contact us.
