Geared Up Culcha (GUC) has partnered with market leaders Fit Test Australia to offer respiratory mask fit testing services.
WHAT IS FIT TESTING?
Fit testing checks the seal of a tight-fitting respirator to ensure it is compliant and delivers the required protection for the worker.

Pictured above: a correctly fitted respirator mask is critical to ensure compliance with AS/NZS 1715:2009.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
A poor respirator mask fit can expose workers to hazardous airborne particles. Testing ensures compliance with AS/NZS 1715:2009 for Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE).
IN WHAT INDUSTRIES IS MASK FITTING CRITICAL?
Workers in sectors including Construction, Mining & Resources, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Health, Utilities, Agriculture, Waste Management, and Fire & Emergency Services are more likely to be exposed to risks associated with airborne hazards.
HOW DOES FIT TESTING WORK?
A quantitative fit testing device measures any leakage around the wearer’s mask. The test takes around 10-15 minutes per person, with results delivered immediately. Participants must be clean shaven, and avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes prior to the test.
WHY CHOOSE GUC AND FIT TEST AUSTRALIA?
Fit Test Australia (FTA) has performed over 78,000 tests for 300+ companies across Australia. FTA are RESP-FIT accredited and fully compliant with AS/NZS 1715:2009. Fit testing reports are delivered immediately with compliance documentation, with mobile and nationwide on-set testing services available.

FIT TESTING INFORMATION: WHAT TO EXPECT
Our fit testers generally arrive 15-30 minutes before the advised start time to set up equipment and prepare for testing. Fit testing should take approximately 10 minutes per person. Staff MUST be CLEAN SHAVEN within the mask seal zone as per AS/NZS17:15 (2009) otherwise they cannot be tested. If you require respiratory protection for staff who cannot shave due to religious, cultural or medical reasons, then a PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) is the only option. PAPRs do not require fit testing. If you require more information on PAPRs, please let us know. Staff must not smoke (including e-cigarettes), eat, or drink liquids (other than water) for at least 30 minutes prior to their fit test.
